Health Professions Program (EMT & CNA) 

Health Professions (EMT & CNA Program)

All students who enter this program will take one course per year that will prepare them for Health Professions.  These courses are from Project Lead the Way’s Biomedical Pathway Curricula, which provides college credit for students based on their End of the Year Exam Results.  These courses are as follows

1.      Principles of Biomedical Science 

2.      Human Body Systems 

3.      Medical Interventions

4.      Biomedical Innovations

 

After School Certification Pathways: 
1. Certified Nursing Assistant- Industry Partner= The New Jewish Home Hospital  (GCD)
  A. 9th - Industry Partner Code One - students will obtain their Certified First Responder (CFR) certificate
  B.10th- Industry Partner Code One - students will obtain their Certified First Responder (CFR) certificate
      *Spring Semester students begin to work with the New Jewish Home Hospital to cover skills needed ( 1 day is medical skills, 1 day academic support) 
  C.11th- New Jewish Home ( 1 day medical skills, 1 day of SAT prep). Summer intensive program to earn CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant)
  D. 12th- New Jewish Home- students who earn the CNA certificate are offered opportunity to work 10 hours per week @ TNJH in their senior year 

 2. Emergency Medical Technician - Industry Partner Code One 
  A. 9th- Industry Partner Code One - students will obtain their Certified First Responder (CFR) certificate
  B. 10th- Industry Partner Code One - students will obtain their Certified First Responder (CFR) certificate / Begin EMT training 
  C. 11th- Industry Partner Code One - students train and obtain EMT certification 
  D. 12th- Industry Partner FDNY & Code Partners- students utilize their EMT Certificates to work as EMT’s in after school shifts
